Ulsan is relatively close to Busan, but going this area and back will still take at least 4 hours. Some of the highlights of Ulsan are located north of the city and will keep you in the saddle a bit longer. One of those highlights is the Dudong climb. After riding through the lesser ridden roads of Ulju-gun you’ll arrive at this green gem of a climb. It’s steep, but the view on the top is breathtaking. A slightly bumpy concrete descent will bring you to the entrance of the Bangudae Petroglyphs, one of Korea’s national treasures (well marked). These rock carvings are more than 6000 years old – worth checking out and a well deserved break after the amount of climbing you’ll do on the ride.
